MEA Announces ‘Wireless Metropolis, Towards the Modernity of the Future’ Photo Contest with 120,000 Baht in Cash Prizes

Bangkok: MEA, in collaboration with the Photographic Society of Thailand under Royal Patronage, has launched an exciting opportunity for photographers across Thailand with the photo contest titled "Wireless Metropolis, Towards the Modernity of the Future." Participants will be competing for a total prize pool of 120,000 baht.

According to Thai News Agency, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand invite Thai nationals to capture the essence of modern Bangkok under the 'Underground Power Line Project.' This initiative seeks to enhance electricity infrastructure, improve safety and stability, and promote urban development. Photographers are encouraged to submit images that showcase the project's impact on the city's landscape, culture, tourism, and economy.

Eligible areas for photography include prominent locations such as Rattanakosin Island, Ratchadamnoen Road, Lang Suan Road, and Sathorn Road, among others. The contest offers a first prize of 50,000 baht, a 1st runner-up prize of 20,000 baht, a 2nd runner-up prize of 10,000 baht, and 20 excellent awards, each worth 2,000 baht.

Participants must adhere to specific rules, including being Thai nationals, submitting no more than ten entries, and ensuring images are recorded between January 1, 2023, and August 15, 2025. Photos must be original, free from copyright infringements, and comply with technical specifications such as .jpg or .jpeg format and pixel dimensions. Importantly, images must not be generated using AI technology and should not have received any previous awards.

The contest organizers emphasize the importance of following the rules, stating that non-compliance will result in disqualification. The submitted works, while remaining the property of the photographers, grant the MEA rights for publication across various media for two years without royalties. The judging panel's decisions are final, and entrants are responsible for understanding all contest conditions.
