Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rain in some areas of northern Thailand, particularly affecting the provinces of Mae Hong Son, Tak, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Sisaket, Ubon Ratchathani, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Residents in these regions are advised to remain vigilant due to the potential dangers associated with heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Bangkok and its surrounding areas face a 70% probability of thunderstorms and heavy rain in select locations.
According to Thai News Agency, the forecast predicts heavy rain in parts of upper Thailand over the next 24 hours, especially in the specified provinces. The monsoon trough passing over the northern region, combined with the moderate southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, is expected to result in significant rainfall. Residents are urged to be cautious of the risks associated with heavy and accumulated rain.
The maritime conditions are also influenced by the weather patterns, with waves reaching approximately 2 meters in height in the upper Andaman Sea. In the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, wave heights range from 1 to 2 meters, and in areas experiencing thunderstorms, waves can exceed 2 meters. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid navigating in storm-affected areas.
Additionally, Typhoon “RAGASA” is currently positioned over the upper South China Sea and is forecasted to move into the Gulf of Tonkin, making landfall in northern Vietnam between September 24-25, 2025. The storm is expected to gradually weaken thereafter. The presence of this typhoon will intensify the monsoon trough and monsoon over Thailand during this period.
In Bangkok and its vicinity, thunderstorms are anticipated with a 70% chance of rain and heavy precipitation in certain areas. The minimum temperature is expected to be between 25-26 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is predicted to range from 33-35 degrees Celsius.
