Taxi Collision with Traffic Police Officer During Organ Transport Raises Concerns

Bangkok: A taxi collided with a traffic police officer on a motorcycle at the Suan Miskawan intersection in Bangkok while the officer was delivering organs. The incident resulted in injuries to the officer’s right leg and wrist.

According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Nitithorn Jintakanon, the Education Commissioner, disclosed that the accident occurred when a taxi driver neglected to slow down as the traffic light changed from yellow to red. This negligence coincided with a Royal Project Traffic Police convoy that had its emergency lights activated while transporting a lung from Chonburi Province to Siriraj Hospital. The collision took place at the Suan Misakawan Intersection, leading to injuries for the officer involved. Fortunately, the taxi managed to avoid hitting the ambulance carrying the organs, allowing the lung to reach the hospital on time.

The incident serves as a critical reminder for drivers to adhere to traffic signals and yield to vehicles with emergency lights and sirens. Authorities emphasize the importance of following traffic laws to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of emergency services on the road.
