Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in various provinces across Thailand, including Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Loei, Nong Khai, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious about potential dangers associated with the heavy rainfall.
According to Thai News Agency, the department forecasts that Thailand will continue to experience severe weather conditions over the next 24 hours, with thunderstorms and heavy to very heavy rain expected in several regions. The warning highlights the risk of flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in hillside regions near waterways and lowland areas. The current weather conditions are attributed to a low-pressure cell covering Laos and northern Vietnam, while the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand has weakened to a moderate level.
In the maritime regions, the upper Andaman Sea is experiencing moderate waves approximately 2 meters high, while the lower Andaman Sea has waves between 1 to 2 meters high. Areas affected by thunderstorms may see waves surpassing 2 meters. Sailors navigating the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are urged to exercise caution and avoid areas prone to thunderstorms.
In Bangkok and its surrounding areas, thunderstorms are expected to affect 60 percent of the region, with heavy rain anticipated in certain areas. The minimum temperature is predicted to range between 26-27 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to be between 33-36 degrees Celsius.
