Nonthaburi: A modified sedan lost control and crashed into 10 cars on the expressway, causing a major traffic disruption. The accident took place at the Muang Thong Thani entrance heading towards Bang Pa-in, as captured by a dashcam at 12:59 AM.
According to Thai News Agency, three white sedans were racing at high speeds when they collided, resulting in a loss of control and a chain reaction involving several other vehicles. Some of the cars nearly fell off the expressway. Following the report to Pak Kret Police Station, officers, along with Expressway Rescue workers, promptly arrived at the scene. They observed approximately 10 modified sedans, including several luxury models, severely damaged and obstructing both lanes. Debris and dislodged car parts were scattered, and it took over three hours to clear the scene and reopen traffic.
Mr. Achitphon, 29, the owner of a BMW caught in the crash, recounted his experience. He was on his way to pick up his girlfriend when a speeding white sedan rear-ended him, causing him to lose control. As he spun out, another speeding car struck him. The initial car, a Honda City according to Mr. Achitphon, fled the scene. His girlfriend sustained a head injury and was taken to the hospital.
Pol. Lt. Col. Thapanapong Phuengmee, Traffic Inspector at Pak Kret Police Station, confirmed receiving the report of the accident. He coordinated with rescue teams to clear the site. Initial assessments reported minor injuries but no fatalities. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, with CCTV footage being reviewed to determine any legal responsibilities.
