Monk of Wat Muang to Provide Information to Anti-Corruption Division Amidst Allegations

Bangkok: ‘Monk of the temple’, the conflicting party of the abbot of Wat Muang, is set to present information to the Anti-Corruption Division tomorrow. ‘Big Tao’ has disclosed that a temple boy at the center of the conflict with the abbot is ready to provide crucial information to authorities. In coordination with the Crime Suppression Division, there will be a review of the case file concerning allegations against the abbot for accepting stolen goods, with a focus on whether the statute of limitations has expired.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Col. Charoonkiat Pankaew, deputy commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, has indicated progress in the case involving 300 baht of gold and 10 million baht in cash associated with the abbot of Wat Muang. Evidence is actively being gathered, and Phra Nitat, the temple boy involved in the conflict, is expected to provide a statement and submit relevant information to the Anti-Corruption Division’s investigation officers.

Regarding the attempts to interrogate the abbot, which have been met with a lack of cooperation, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat assured that the situation is being managed according to standard procedures. The Crime Suppression Division will assess the old case allegations against the abbot for receiving stolen goods to determine the status of the statute of limitations. Even if the statute has expired, other legal avenues may still be pursued.
