Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya: People participated in merit-making activities by giving alms to monks and releasing fish and shrimp to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday. At Wat Sala Poon Worawihan, Second Lieutenant Doctor Somsong Sanphakosonkul, the Mayor of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality, joined public officials and citizens in offering alms to 49 monks and releasing 1,499,999 fish and shrimp as part of the royal birthday celebrations. The district abbot and temple led the religious ceremonies, with six elephants from the Chang Lae Pen Palace also present.
According to Thai News Agency, a similar event took place in Kanchanaburi, where Mr. Athisan Intra, the Governor, oversaw a Buddhist chanting ceremony. The event included Islamic religious leaders performing the Dua ceremony and Christian leaders offering prayers. Afterward, 48 monks received offerings of rice and dried food. The ceremony concluded with the release of 200,000 fish, including silver barb and Sultan stingray, into the River Kwai as a royal merit gesture.
In Roi Et, volunteer activities were held at Thawatchai Reservoir, led by Governor Chatchawan Benjasiriwong. The activities focused on landscape development, trash cleanup, and tree planting to honor His Majesty the King. The event also saw the release of 200,017 aquatic animals, including silver barb fish, moonfish, giant freshwater prawns, and Mekong catfish, into the reservoir. Additionally, 101 golden trumpet trees were planted to enhance green space in the area.
