NACC Investigates Director’s Omission of 12 Million Baht in Asset Declaration

Bangkok: The NACC has resolved to conduct an in-depth investigation into a director-level civil servant of the NACC office who did not submit a list of 12 million baht in cash assets belonging to his spouse.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phuthep Thaweechotthanakul, Deputy Secretary-General of the NACC and Deputy Spokesperson of the NACC Office, revealed that in today’s NACC meeting, the committee considered information regarding the asset and liabilities filings of a civil servant at the level of the NACC Director. It was reported that the civil servant was married to Mr. Thaweewat Saengkaew at the beginning of 2020. The civil servant filed an asset declaration for the first time on July 22, 2021, and for the second time when he had been in office for 3 years on July 22, 2024.

The examination of the asset and liabilities statement revealed that the filings did not include any cash amounting to 12 million baht belonging to the spouse. Consequently, the NACC committee resolved to conduct an in-depth investigation to determine whether the civil servant intentionally omitted the assets and liabilities statement, filed a false statement, or concealed facts that should have been disclosed. The investigation will also assess whether there is reasonable suspicion regarding the improper acquisition of the assets, in accordance with the regulations of the National Anti-Corruption Commission on the examination of assets and liabilities of government officials and the prosecution of cases related to the filing of the statements, B.E. 2561, as soon as possible.
