Bangkok: Another step forward, a new dimension of AI Chatbot “Phi Khumkrong” legal advisor is ready to give advice to the public, aiming to provide convenient and fast legal consultation services. Mr. Karom Polpornklang, deputy government spokesman, revealed that the government, through the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection (DLR), Ministry of Justice, aims to provide knowledge, consultation, and legal rights care services to the public, both by phone and by walking in for consultation, to cover all target groups, especially villagers who do not know their rights and may be deceived and incur a lot of expenses. In order to improve the service level and provide convenience and increase the opportunity to access the service, DLR has developed the ‘Phi Khumkrong’ legal advisor program to provide legal knowledge to the public, with 4 main laws: the Compensation of Victims Act, Compensation of Expenses for Defendants in Criminal Cases Act, Mediation of Disputes Act, Witness Protection Act in Criminal Ca
ses Act, and Enforced Disappearance Act, as well as other laws and general criminal laws, totaling 168 laws, to be included in the AI chatbot to provide comprehensive services to the public.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karam stated that the highlight of ‘Phi Khumkrong’ is providing legal information in easy-to-understand language, supporting local languages, increasing intimacy, focusing on fairness, accessible to everyone, non-discrimination, and enhancing the work of government officials, not replacing them, so that people can access the justice process conveniently, quickly, and equally. However, the AI chatbot is different from the AI chatgpt in that the AI chatbot will not learn from questions because it wants to ensure the accuracy and fairness of the law. It only learns from what we feed it, and more laws will be added continuously. The general public can add the Line Official Account: @rlpd 24 hours a day to ask for unlimited legal knowledge. However, if there are questions at the same time, it will be limited to 100 calls. In the past, it was found that the legal problems that people requested help with the most were land encroachment, land with no way out, land inheritance cases,
forest reserve encroachment, fighting over farmland, compensation for victims, and being arrested. What should be done if arrested? Where can I get help? In the case that I did not do anything wrong, what should I do?
‘The government realizes and sees the importance of developing the justice process so that people can receive services, receive consultations, have convenience, speed, and access government services more easily. This is to create peace in society by preventing and solving crimes, protecting safety in life and property, including preventing and solving conflicts, protecting people’s rights and freedoms, and human rights, which aim to achieve justice on the basis of humanity and to help alleviate problems in the beginning, both proactively and defensively,’ said Mr. Karam.
