No Evidence of Gambling Den Found Near Huai Khwang Police Station

Bangkok: An investigation into a reported gambling den located 500 meters from Huai Khwang Police Station has concluded without finding any evidence of illegal activity. This investigation was initiated following a social media post that claimed the presence of a gambling den in close proximity to the police station.

According to Thai News Agency, Police inspected the site and found no gambling activities. The venue’s owner stated that the area had never been used for gambling and expressed concerns over the damage caused by the social media claims. The posts prompted immediate action from Pol. Col. Prasopchok Iampinij, Superintendent of Huai Khwang Police Station, who was on a special mission when he became aware of the situation. He promptly directed investigators to the scene for a thorough examination.

Initial inspections confirmed that the location was a small, unused room where previous arrests had been made. A subsequent inspection conducted at midnight reaffirmed the absence of any illegal gambling activities. The Royal Thai Police have emphasized the importance of addressing illegal gambling and have instructed all police stations to enforce laws strictly. Huai Khwang Police Station remains committed to this directive and encourages public cooperation in providing information. Regular inspections will be conducted moving forward.

The owner clarified that the room in question had been used as a storage area for a liquor store and had been rented for storing tables, chairs, and beer stock since 2015. Due to economic challenges, the lease was canceled two years ago, and the space is now empty. Plans are underway to convert it into a studio for his daughter’s activities. The owner firmly denied any transformation of the space into a casino and highlighted the harm caused by the false social media post.

Reporters were also taken on a tour around the premises to verify the absence of gambling activities.
