OSS Center Helps Thai Private Sector Cope with US Tax Measures

Bangkok: The government is moving forward with the establishment of an OSS center to help Thai private companies cope with US tariffs. The center will provide a one-stop shop for all trade services, including tax consultations, market expansion, and export cost reductions.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Government Spokesperson Anukul Prueksanusak revealed that the government, through the Ministry of Commerce, has launched a one-stop service center (MOC One Stop Service (OSS) @Ratchada at the Department of International Trade Promotion on Ratchadaphisek Road. This initiative aims to drive the "Reliable Commerce" policy, making it a reliable source of support for Thai entrepreneurs at all levels, from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to large enterprises.

The OSS Center is one of the government's proactive measures to address the international trade situation, particularly the 19% US reciprocal tariff on imported goods from several countries, including some key Thai products, which could directly impact the competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs. The OSS Center is designed to be a one-stop service for entrepreneurs, offering tax consultations, compensation, information requests, business cost reduction, and expanding global trade opportunities. This enables them to adapt quickly and timely to the situation.

Currently, the One Stop Service Center has 12 agencies providing services. These include eight agencies under the Ministry of Commerce: the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT), the Department of Trade Negotiations (DTN), the Department of Business Development (DBD), the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP), the Department of Internal Trade (DIT), the Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO), and the International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD); along with four external agencies: the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand, the Customs Department, and EXIM Bank. Additional agencies are also planned, including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Board of Trade of Thailand, and the SME Association, to provide even more comprehensive services.

"The establishment of the OSS Center is just one of several government measures to mitigate the impact of the US 19% import tariff. The government has prepared comprehensive support measures for entrepreneurs, both proactive and reactive, to stand alongside Thai entrepreneurs, enabling them to adapt and maintain their competitiveness in the global market. Therefore, we encourage walk-in entrepreneurs to seek immediate consultation. Staff are available daily, and we are open on Saturdays and Sundays for maximum convenience. Currently, we offer two service channels: walk-in service at the counter, and by calling the export hotline at 1169 or 02-513-1909," said Mr. Anukul.
