Bangkok: “Pheu Thai” has extended gratitude to MPs from both opposition and government factions for their effective collaboration in examining and passing the 2026 budget bill. Mr. Danupon Punnakan, a spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, highlighted the dedication of civil servants who have been working diligently over the past months. He also announced that by September, Bangkokians can expect a 20 baht fare for all public transport routes, aiming to reduce living expenses, alleviate traffic congestion, and tackle the PM 2.5 dust issue.
According to Thai News Agency, during a weekly press conference, Mr. Danupon expressed appreciation for the smooth proceedings in the House of Representatives regarding the budget bill. He acknowledged the efforts of all MPs, emphasizing the importance of their role in identifying and addressing unnecessary budget allocations. He also encouraged the opposition to further discuss these insights at the committee level.
In addition to the MPs, Mr. Danupon extended his gratitude to civil servants from various ministries, departments, and agencies for their hard work. While the council convened for around four days, the groundwork laid by civil servants was extensive and crucial to the budget’s success.
Mr. Danupon also thanked the MPs who supported the 20-baht all-line ticket management bill, anticipating its implementation by September. This initiative, part of the Pheu Thai Party’s 2023 campaign promise, aims not only to reduce travel costs for residents but also to address traffic and environmental issues in Bangkok.
