Pheu Thai Praises Passage of 2026 Budget Bill as Key Policy Driver

Bangkok: Pheu Thai Party has expressed gratitude for the passage of the 2026 budget bill, emphasizing its significance in driving policy initiatives to the public. They plan to implement a 20-minute electric train line to enhance public funds and accelerate disaster management efforts. The move aims to bolster Thai tourism with a target of generating 2.8 trillion baht, through hosting major events. Additionally, the government has established a center to purchase Grade AA longans at 13 baht per kilogram until August 20, before proposing a 1,400 baht per rai assistance plan for farmers to the Cabinet.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Khattiya Sawatdiphon, Deputy Spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, addressed the weekly House of Representatives meeting concerning the 2026 Budget Bill. She thanked all coalition parties for their efforts in advancing the bill through its second and third readings and highlighted the collective responsibility of the budget. She noted that the 2026 budget is crucial for laying
the foundation of the country, revitalizing the economy, and addressing economic challenges. The Pheu Thai Party is committed to using the budget efficiently and transparently to meet the people’s needs.

The Pheu Thai Party deputy spokesperson also mentioned that after passing the House, the bill will be reviewed by the Senate. It is hoped the Senate will expedite its consideration to allow the government to implement policies swiftly. Key budget allocations include a 20 baht flat-rate fare scheme to make travel more accessible, reducing public spending. The budget aims to revitalize tourism and the community economy, with a target of 2.8 trillion baht in revenue by 2026 and attracting 3.6 million tourists. Additionally, the budget will support public health infrastructure, disaster management, and climate change initiatives to address chronic flooding and drought.

The government has introduced measures to support farmers, such as the 2025/26 Rice Production Capacity Development Project, offering 1,000 baht
per rai for both wet and dry seasons. Payments will begin in September, with funds transferred directly to farmers’ registered accounts to reduce delays. The government has partnered with the Northern Dried Longan Association to set up purchase points for Grade AA longans and will propose a subsidy measure of 1,400 baht per rai to the Cabinet. These measures aim to provide quick income to farmers, and Pheu Thai Party MPs are tasked with monitoring the situation to ensure effective solutions.
