Bangkok: Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, currently acting as Prime Minister, has directed a cabinet meeting focused on the Thai-Cambodian border, urging relevant government agencies to implement measures assisting entrepreneurs in the border provinces.
According to Thai News Agency, the government has set measures to regulate the opening and closing times of checkpoints in seven Thai-Cambodian border provinces, impacting citizens and entrepreneurs conducting business in these areas. Mr. Phumtham instructed the Ministry of Commerce to expedite measures aiding border entrepreneurs who need to transport goods across the border. This includes finding markets or requesting cooperation from government and private sectors in purchasing goods, covering the transportation process, to prevent burdens on entrepreneurs in these regions.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defense and security agencies have been tasked with ensuring the safety of people in the area, ensuring it does not interfere with the livelihoods of citizens from both countries, while adhering to universal human rights principles.
