President, First Lady arrive in Kyiv

President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana aboard an extraordinary train arrived at Platform 1 of Kyiv Central Station, Ukraine.On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at around 8:50 local time,

President Jokowi and his entourage undertook a journey of around 11 hours. The trip commenced from Tuesday, June 28, at around 21:15 local time.

The President and Mrs. Iriana got off the train after the car door slid open, and they were then greeted by officials comprising Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Senik, Head of the Ukrainian-Indonesian Intergovernmental Relations Commission Taras Kachka, and officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Kyiv.

On the fourth day of the overseas working visit agenda, the President and Mrs. Iriana would be in Ukraine to conduct some activities.

The first agenda is to visit the remnants of the Lipky Apartment complex in Irpin City. President Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana were also scheduled to visit the Ukrainian Center for Endocrine Science and Surgery, Organ and Endocrine Tissue Transplantation in Kyiv.

In the afternoon, President Jokowi will visit the Maryinsky Palace for a meeting with President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

President Jokowi, Mrs. Iriana, and their entourage will thereafter make their way back to Kyiv Central Station and then head to Przemysl Station in Poland aboard the extraordinary train.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi remarked that President Jokowi had departed for Ukraine through Poland. She delivered the statement in Munich, Germany, on June 27, 2022.

The minister spoke of having extensively communicated with stakeholders following President Jokowi’s visit to Ukraine and Russia.

“The president will continue his trip to Ukraine via Poland. I also conduct (extensive) communication with (stakeholders) with regard to the president’s visit to Ukraine and to Russia. Of course, we will continue to pursue this communication with Ukraine and Russia,” Marsudi stated.

Members of the entourage of the President and First Lady Iriana include Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
