Hanoi: The Prime Minister visited Chong Chom on June 11 to inspect the Thai-Cambodian border. The visit included a detailed assessment of the permanent border crossing at Chong Chom, Kap Choeng District, Surin Province, aimed at engaging with local residents and reviewing the operations of the Suranaree Force.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, along with her entourage, traveled to the area to inspect and support officials working in Kap Choeng District. The day began with a flight to Buriram Airport in Satuek District, followed by a car journey to the Kap Choeng District Office in Surin Province. Here, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting focused on security issues and measures to aid residents in the seven border provinces between Thailand and Cambodia.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary included a visit to the Suranaree Force personnel in Kap Choeng District, where she distributed morale-boosting items and shared a meal with the team. Following this, the Prime Minister proceeded to the Chong Chom permanent border crossing to engage with local communities and assess the improved border situation.
Mr. Jirayu emphasized that during the visit, the Prime Minister prioritized public safety and provided encouragement to the officers on duty. She focused on directly understanding the situation to develop fact-based solutions and extend necessary support. The Prime Minister reiterated her commitment to peaceful resolutions, emphasizing the importance of avoiding loss of life and safeguarding sovereignty without affecting the local population.
