Bangkok: The commander of the 2nd Army has expressed confidence and calmness regarding the upcoming JBC meeting, stating that he anticipates favorable results.
According to Thai News Agency, General Phana Klaewplodthuk, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, along with Lieutenant General Boonsin Phadklang, the Commander of the 2nd Army Area, visited the M7 water measurement station along the Mun River in Mueang District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The visit, which took place at 8:00 a.m., was aimed at receiving a briefing on the water situation in the Mun River.
Before departing, Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang briefly commented that he was awaiting the results of the meeting without any stress, expressing his belief that the outcomes would be positive.
The main objective of the Army Commander’s visit was to receive an update on the current water conditions in the Mun River, in preparation for integrating disaster assistance efforts. The military is expected to play a crucial role in disaster prevention and mitigation in emergencies in the area.
Lt. Col. Adisak Noisuwan, Governor of Ubon Ratchathani Province, provided a detailed briefing on the Mun River’s situation, including water drainage plans and emergency assistance for residents. This briefing also covered evacuation plans for the Chong Bok area in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, with full preparations in place for any emergencies.
Currently, the Mun River level stands at a normal level of 108.39 meters above mean sea level, which is 3.61 meters below the bank. An announcement has been made to warn about the opening of the Pak Mun Dam water gate on June 15, as per the resolution of the Pak Mun Dam Water Management Working Group meeting.
General Pana Klaewplodthuk did not provide any further comments before leaving with Lieutenant General Boonsin Phadklang, the Commander of the 2nd Army Area.
