Royal Thai Army Commander-In-Chief Emphasizes Commitment to National Security and Welfare

Bangkok: The Army Commander discussed with the Army’s subordinate units, emphasizing that they will continue to do their best. The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army held a meeting with the Royal Thai Army’s subordinate units, assigned the 2nd Army Area Commander to report the situation between Thailand and Cambodia to the meeting, and emphasized that the personnel should follow the royal guidance and stand firm in their duties to the best of their ability for the people and the country.

Prior to the meeting, the Army Commander-in-Chief provided financial assistance to special needs children of military personnel, provided educational funds to military personnel’s children who had passed the entrance exam or were currently studying at sports schools under the National Sports University, presented prize money and honorary plaques to Army sports teams that won awards from club sports competitions, and presented certificates to units with outstanding results in training assessments and heavy machine gun company training inspections.

The Army Commander praised and congratulated all award winners who have brought fame to the sport and shown the readiness of the army’s preparation. In terms of providing financial assistance and scholarships, it is something that boosts morale and encouragement for the troops, which the Army Commander has given importance to. He asked unit commanders to closely manage the rights and welfare of the troops, to proceed smoothly and in a timely manner.

Then in the meeting, the Department of the Army Chief of Staff reported the results of the unit’s important operations in the past, especially the interception and suppression of illegal activities by the Army’s Border Defense Force, in which the Operations Division, Army Operations Center, reported the results of the arrest of a drug smuggling gang, seizing 77,086,851 methamphetamine pills, 3,625 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 0.516 kilograms of heroin, 100.50 kilograms of ketamine, and 63.698 kilograms of opium, and the arrest of illegal immigrants. There were 292 violations detected, 1,183 offenders arrested, most of whom were Myanmar and Cambodian nationals. There were 14 arrests of illegal loggers and forest encroachment, and 311 logs of various types of wood were seized. Other illegal goods were seized, including 35,800 liters of tax-evaded diesel, 2,750 liters of tax-evaded gasoline, 63,265 packets of tax-evaded cigarettes, and 17,994,000 baht in Thai banknotes, demonstrating the readiness of mi
litary units to strictly monitor and intercept illegal activities in various areas throughout the country.

And on the occasion of this meeting of the direct units, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army has assigned the Commander of the 2nd Army to report the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border to the unit commanders so that they can be used to expand the results so that the personnel in the unit understand the correct situation and prevent receiving inaccurate information from unofficial sources, which may affect society in the wider area. He has also encouraged the personnel working in the area and provided support on various occasions.
