Royal Thai Army Condemns Cambodian Ceasefire Violation

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has publicly condemned Cambodia for violating a recently established ceasefire agreement. The Thai military expressed its commitment to the agreement while asserting its right to defend its territory and respond as necessary. A scheduled meeting with military leaders in the area has been postponed to 10 a.m.

According to Thai News Agency, Major General Winthai Suvari, the Army spokesman, addressed the situation regarding Cambodia’s actions. He detailed that both the Thai and Cambodian governments had agreed to cease military activities along their shared border, with the ceasefire set to take effect from midnight on July 28, 2025. The purpose of this agreement was to foster peace, reduce regional tensions, and enhance cooperation between the neighboring nations.

The Royal Thai Army has emphasized that it has adhered strictly to the ceasefire terms, establishing a cessation of hostilities along the border as per the agreed deadline. This approach reflects Thailand’s commitment to the mutual obligations outlined by the two governments.

However, the Thai military reported that, contrary to the agreement, Cambodian forces launched attacks into Thai territory in several locations. The Royal Thai Army described these actions as deliberate violations intended to erode trust between the two countries. In response to these developments, the Royal Thai Army has issued a formal condemnation of Cambodia’s actions.

Thailand asserts its right to defend itself and has implemented appropriate countermeasures, emphasizing that its actions are not aggressive but are intended to prevent further incursions and uphold national sovereignty, in accordance with international law.

Major General Winthai also noted that the initial meeting with military leaders in the area has been rescheduled from its original time of 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in light of the recent developments.
