Sakda Slams Pheu Thai Secretary for Contradictory Logic

Bangkok: Sakda slammed the Pheu Thai Party secretary-general for his contradictory logic after accusing him of resigning to raise funds for a by-election. He pointed out that Pheu Thai had previously proposed an immediate dissolution of Parliament, and questioned which party would use the larger budget. He expressed confidence that his performance in four months surpassed that of Pheu Thai in two years.

According to Thai News Agency, Sakda Wichiensin, Deputy Minister of the Interior, addressed the Pheu Thai Party Secretary-General’s remarks by Sorawong Thienthong, suggesting that Sakda’s resignation to accept a ministerial position would cost him money to hold a new election in Kanchanaburi’s Constituency 4. He stated that this statement contradicts his own. The Pheu Thai Party proposed an immediate dissolution of Parliament if Chaikasem Nitisiri were elected Prime Minister. He questioned the cost of a by-election for just one constituency in Kanchanaburi Constituency 4 versus a nationwide election involving 400 constituencies and 100 party-list candidates, as a general election costs nearly 4 billion baht.

Mr. Sakda continued, “I’d like to ask what achievements the Pheu Thai Party has achieved over the past two years. This is different from the government of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who took office immediately and has already achieved results. I’d like to point out that sometimes, in just four months, work can be more productive than in two years.”

Mr. Sakda remains confident that Ms. Wisuda Wichiensin, the daughter of the Bhumjaithai Party’s candidate for the by-election in Kanchanaburi’s Constituency 4, will win 100 percent, as local residents will vote for candidates who are close to their constituencies and who are not merely out to meet the public during elections.
