Bangkok: Sirikanya Tansakul, MP and deputy leader of the Prachachon Party, has urged the Prime Minister to dissolve the parliament to maintain political elegance. She addressed the potential outcome of the Constitutional Court’s current deliberations, emphasizing that even if the Prime Minister is ordered to temporarily cease his duties, a political deadlock is unlikely.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sirikanya expressed confidence that an acting Prime Minister would be capable of leading the new cabinet and overseeing the ministers’ oath-taking process, thereby averting a deadlock. However, she speculated that the Constitutional Court might not rule for the suspension of the Prime Minister’s duties at this stage.
Discussing the potential impact of the Constitutional Court’s decisions, Ms. Sirikanya noted that the Prime Minister’s public confidence is already diminished. She pointed out the Court’s history of unpredictable rulings, including in the case of former Prime Minister Mr. Settha Thavisin, and suggested that acceptance of the petition could destabilize political stability.
Ms. Sirikanya advocated for a resolution to the political crisis through the dissolution of parliament, allowing the public to elect new representatives. She emphasized that such a step would be the most appropriate and elegant solution to restore political stability.
