Chiang dao: Soldiers clashed with a drug-smuggling caravan on the border in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province, resulting in the death of one person and the seizure of 400,000 methamphetamine pills.
According to Thai News Agency, soldiers from the Chaiyanupap Task Force, alongside a medical team and relevant agencies, conducted an inspection of the clash site at the Ban Arunotai natural passage in Muang Na subdistrict, Chiang Dao district, Chiang Mai province. The confrontation occurred last night when border patrols encountered four or five armed men carrying backpacks as they entered Thai territory, prompting a firefight that lasted approximately five minutes.
A thorough examination of the clash site uncovered the body of one of the opposing forces, who had been shot dead, and two modified backpacks containing a total of 400,000 methamphetamine pills. Authorities have seized all the evidence and handed it over to the police for prosecution.
Colonel Dechathorn Saiyut, Deputy Commander of the Chaiya Nuphap Task Force, has called for cooperation from villagers in border areas. He urged them to immediately notify local military authorities if they notice any suspicious individuals, in an effort to curb drug trafficking operations into Thailand.
