Surin: Suriya traveled to meet with the people of Surin Province, offering encouragement, relief bags, and essential items, and ordering all units to provide support 24 hours a day.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Suriya Juangroongruangkit, revealed that he traveled to Surin Province, Mueang District, to meet with the public and distribute relief bags, tools, equipment, and other essentials to those affected by the Thai-Cambodian border situation. The Ministry of Transport and all affiliated agencies are prepared to provide full support and cooperation to ensure the safety of citizens, particularly ensuring that transport infrastructure, transportation systems, and routes can be used safely and efficiently.
The Department of Highways (DOH) and the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) have been tasked with closely monitoring the public and ensuring 24-hour readiness to evacuate and relocate people to safety. This includes preparing personnel and machinery to support equipment transport and inspecting drainage pipe installations to create shelters for the public when necessary. Additionally, if damaged roads are found, the DOH must immediately conduct emergency repairs, and the DRR must facilitate travel.
Suriya also ordered all agencies to enhance surveillance of ports and border crossings, and to increase security measures at airports and airspace in Thailand. Any irregularities found must be immediately reported to all relevant parties.
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has been instructed, in collaboration with the Transport Company Limited (BKS), to open a center to receive and send aid to border residents. The Department of Land Transport (DLT) and BKS have also been instructed to provide buses and coaches to transport people, ensuring they are ready to operate 24 hours a day until the situation returns to normal.
All agencies are prepared to implement measures and provide water trucks, drinking water, essential supplies, and blood donations. Emphasis is placed on communication and coordination to ensure the public receives accurate information and has quick access to assistance. The Ministry of Transport, through the Traffic Safety and Emergency Response Center (TSEC), has opened a 24-hour hotline at 1356 to receive complaints and provide travel information, as well as continuously disseminate news and information via online channels.
"The Ministry of Transport expresses its concern for the people and will closely monitor the situation and mobilize all available resources to ensure swift, effective, and safe assistance," said Mr. Suriya.
