Temporary Observers Praise Thai Soldiers for Adhering to Ceasefire Agreement

Buriram: A temporary IOT observer team inspected the area of the 2nd Army Area Command’s Command Center on the Thai-Cambodian border and praised the Thai military for adhering to the ceasefire agreement and not reinforcing troops or weapons.

According to Thai News Agency, the Temporary Observer Team (IOT), led by the Malaysian Defense Attache to Thailand, inspected the operations of the Suranaree Task Force of the 2nd Army Area between October 4th and 5th. They surveyed the Thai-Cambodian border at Chong Sai Taku, Chanthaburi Subdistrict, Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province. This area has few border problems, unlike the areas of Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, and Sa Kaeo.

Maj. Gen. Samsul Rizal bin Musa, Malaysia’s Assistant Defence Attache to Thailand, revealed through Captain Pawichaya Waleesuksant, Assistant Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters and a Thai-language interpreter that, based on a preliminary survey, the Thai military, led by the Royal Thai Army, is still strictly adhering to the ceasefire rules. There has been no increase in troops or equipment. The key is strengthening and enhancing bilateral cooperation as agreed upon under the RBC, GBC, and JBC meetings. This requires sincerity and strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement to reduce tensions between the two countries. Information will be forwarded in due course.

Regarding the Thai-Cambodian border area of Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaew in Khok Sung Subdistrict, Sa Kaeo Province, after the Burapha Task Force deployed patrols and drones for aerial surveillance on the Cambodian border, a group of Cambodian men and women gathered in Ban Prey Chan, opposite Ban Nong Ya Kaew. Cambodian soldiers were also stationed at border checkpoints, some facing the Thai side, while Thai soldiers were on guard duty to prevent incidents.
