Chiang Mai: The Thai women’s football team continues to train hard before competing in the 2026 AFC Championship qualifiers in Chiang Mai province.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai women’s national football team continued training at the Alpine Football Camp Training in Chiang Mai Province to prepare for the 2026 AFC Women’s Championship qualifiers between 23 June and 5 July 2025 at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium.
This training session, led by Japanese head coach Futoshi Ikeda, focused on scoring goals from the flanks and positioning in both attack and defense, which took 1 hour and 30 minutes. The team’s readiness is now 90 percent, Ikeda said. Everyone is ready and determined to train to perform well. The important goal is to go to the World Cup.
The Chaba Kaew team will be training at the Alpine Football Camp Training in Chiang Mai until June 21st, and will select the final 23 players before entering the official tournament.
For the Thai women’s national football team, they are in Group B with India, Mongolia, Timor-Leste, and Iraq. The first match of the Thai team will be against Timor-Leste on June 26 at 7:30 p.m. This event will be a round robin competition to bring the champions of all 8 groups together with 4 other countries that are already waiting: Australia (host), China (defending champion), South Korea (defending runner-up), and Japan (3rd place last time) to play in the final round in Australia.
