Thailand Maintains Security Readiness in Seven Border Provinces

Bangkok: The situation in Thailand’s seven border provinces is reported to be normal, with security operations in place and ready to respond to any situation. The government emphasizes transparency by ensuring international observers are informed of the truth. Discussions are ongoing at the GBC forum, and the government remains committed to providing relief to citizens.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office and a member of the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation Administration Center (TCASAC), stated that the situation at 11 border points across seven provinces is generally stable. The Thai military maintains 24-hour security readiness.

Mr. Chirayu noted that the NBTC committee met recently to discuss security and foreign affairs. An International Observer (IOT) team visited Chanthaburi and Trat provinces to inspect security measures, mine clearance, and civilian care operations. The inspection affirmed Thailand’s commitment to transparent operations and its readiness to cooperate in maintaining regional peace.

Thailand is preparing for the second extraordinary GBC meeting in Koh Kong Province, Cambodia, and Trat Province from September 7-10, 2025. The country is taking proactive steps to clarify facts about landmines to senior officials from the UN, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and states party to the Ottawa Convention. Additionally, the CCSA plans to build a 16-kilometer fence along border markers 50 and 51 in Sa Kaeo Province to enhance public safety and prevent intrusions from Cambodia.
