Sa Kaeo Governor Orders Cambodian Eviction from Ban Nong Chan

Sa kaeo: The Sa Kaeo governor has mandated the installation of signs instructing Cambodians to vacate and dismantle their settlements in the Ban Nong Chan area of Thailand. Violators will be charged under the Immigration and Forestry Acts, facing fines and potential imprisonment.

According to Thai News Agency, officials from various agencies in Sa Kaeo Province have placed notices to enforce these laws against Cambodians encroaching on Thai land in Ban Nong Chan, Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province. The signs, written in Thai, Cambodian, and English, are accompanied by a map and clearly state that Cambodians occupying land for living or farming in Thailand are committing an offense.

The posted announcement warns that ignoring these directives will lead to prosecution and punishment under Thai law. Under the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, violators face imprisonment of up to 2 years and fines up to 20,000 baht. The Forestry Act B.E. 2484 imposes penalties of up to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 50,000 baht, or both. Offenses involving more than 25 rai of land result in stiffer penalties, including imprisonment from 2 to 15 years and fines ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 baht.
