According to Thai News Agency, the roof of a chicken rice shop in Sirikan Market, Mueang District, Chanthaburi Province, was blown down by a storm, causing panic among customers and shop staff. The incident occurred at noon, so the shop was full of customers eating. Then it started raining, so the shop and customers helped move tables and chairs inside to avoid the rain before the storm hit hard, causing the roof to collapse.

Initially, no customers were injured. Only the mother of the owner of another chicken rice shop next door was injured when the roof hit her back and was taken to the hospital. The chicken rice shop employee said that it usually rains a lot in this area. The roof is strong and not damaged in any way. But today, the wind was very strong. It
came in a flash and blew the roof up before collapsing.

The storm blew off the roofs of 15 buildings in the vicinity of the chicken rice shop. Initially, soldiers and police officers inspected the area and provided assistance in removing roof debris to clear the area for safety.

At Koh Hey Beach in Phuket Province, most of the tourists were foreigners, carrying their belongings to escape the storm. At that moment, a large tree was blown down by the wind. In the clip, a person can be heard saying, “See? There’s a person under there.” After the incident, the body of a 53-year-old Chinese female tourist was found crushed to death by the tree.

The deceased and her husband traveled to Koh Hey with a tour group. Before the incident, the deceased and her husband were sitting on a beach chair under a tree. There was strong wind and rain before the tree fell on the deceased. The husband was hit by a falling branch and sustained minor injuries. Most recently, Phuket Province has sent a letter of condolence to the Ch
inese Embassy.

The atmosphere at various tourist piers in Phuket, especially Chalong Bay Pier, was rather quiet throughout the day with few tourists due to the announcement of the Phuket Regional Harbor Master prohibiting small boats from leaving the shore and red flags being placed on every beach.

In Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, during the early evening, a strong wind storm and heavy rain occurred, especially on the road from Ban San Thanon to Ban Nong Si Chaeng, Tambon Si Mueang Chum. The force of the storm knocked down large trees and brought down the walls of villagers’ houses, blocking the road, making it impassable for all types of vehicles.

It took Sri Muang Chum Subdistrict Administrative Organization staff more than 3 hours to successfully cut down trees, remove them from the road, and push the wall that was blocking the road out of the traffic surface before it was opened to traffic as usual.
