Ubon ratchathani: The Governor of Ubon Ratchathani, Lieutenant Colonel Adisak Noisuwan, has expressed confidence in the province’s readiness to evacuate residents should incidents arise along the Thai-Cambodian border. The governor emphasized that the local government, in collaboration with the military, has established a thorough evacuation plan to ensure the safety of the population.
According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Col. Adisak highlighted that the government has implemented a proactive policy with military cooperation to bolster the rear area’s defense. The authorities have conducted surveys and developed additional shelter areas, while regular drills have been practiced across key districts such as Nam Yuen and Nam Khun. The residents are kept informed through government updates, which are disseminated to village headmen to maintain preparedness.
Lt. Col. Adisak discussed the integration efforts with various agencies, including the Suranaree Task Force, the 22nd Military Circle, and the Internal Security Operations Command. Local government teams, along with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, are working together to ensure the community’s readiness. Recent evacuation drills have been conducted in Tambon Dom Pradit and Tambon Song, with improvements made to existing bomb shelters to meet safety standards.
The governor reassured the public about their familiarity with the situation, stating that efforts to boost morale are ongoing. The government is addressing disputes, and the military is actively securing the border. Lt. Col. Adisak affirmed the focus on preparation and readiness, with students in schools participating in regular drills.
When asked about additional support from the government, Lt. Col. Adisak mentioned that officials from the Ministry of Interior frequently visit the area to provide assistance. The province is poised to act promptly upon receiving any military orders, prioritizing the evacuation of vulnerable groups if necessary.
