Vietnam and Italy Aim to Enhance Tourism Cooperation

Milan, Italy – Vietnam is setting its sights on boosting tourism cooperation with Italy, a move seen as pivotal for sustainable and long-term growth in bilateral relations. This intent was affirmed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang during the inauguration of a Vietnamese tourism promotion programme in Milan on November 24. The event signals Vietnam’s commitment to expanding its tourism ties with Italy.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Italy is recognized as a key market in Vietnam’s tourism development strategy, possessing substantial potential for growth. Despite this, the current number of Italian tourists visiting Vietnam and vice versa is considered relatively low. Hang pointed out that there is considerable potential for cultural and tourism exchanges between the two nations, indicating a need for increased collaboration in these areas.

One of the key suggestions made by Hang to enhance tourism relations is the exploration of a direct flight route between Milan and Vietnam. Milan airport’s strategic location as a major transit hub in Italy and Europe makes it an ideal point for establishing such a connection. Hang emphasized the importance of increased tourism promotion activities to foster better collaboration in the field, as well as to enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Andrea Tucci, Vice President of Aviation Business Development at SEA Milan Airports, spoke to the Vietnam News Agency about the significance of the promotional programme. Tucci highlighted the programme as a highly anticipated initiative that could introduce new travel opportunities and potentially pave the way for the early development of direct connections between the two markets.

The launch event in Milan featured various activities to promote Vietnamese culture and tourism. Attendees participated in a lucky draw with the chance to win three free round-trip tickets on the France – Vietnam air route. The event also showcased a dragon dance performance, a photo exhibition highlighting Vietnam’s scenic beauty, and an array of Vietnamese culinary delights, further strengthening the cultural bridge between Vietnam and Italy.
