Kantharalak: The first round of compensation money for border clashes has been transferred. Villagers expressed their delight and rushed to withdraw it for spending and debt repayment.
According to Thai News Agency, villagers have been gradually checking their bank books at the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, Kantharalak branch, to verify the government’s relief funds for those affected by the Thai-Cambodian border incident. Most were delighted to receive the funds, stating they would use them for daily expenses and debt repayment to alleviate their families’ hardships after months of suffering.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) began transferring relief funds to border disaster victims in accordance with a Cabinet resolution on August 26, 2015. Each household will receive 5,000 baht or 2,000 baht, depending on the level of damage. In Sisaket Province, 90,338 households have registered for the relief funds, with 81,807 households receiving approval from the Provincial Disaster Relief Committee.
