Kanchanadit: The District Chief of Kanchanadit, Surat Thani Province, visited the mother of five generations, over 100 years old, to offer encouragement on National Mother’s Day. Mr. Poonsak Soponpatumrak, District Chief of Kanchanadit District, Surat Thani Province, led a team of Kanchanadit District Public Health Officers, Krut Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, village health volunteers, community leaders, and related agencies to visit two elderly people over 100 years old. The visit was intended to offer moral support and express gratitude to benefactors on National Mother’s Day, August 12.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Poonsak visited 101-year-old Grandma Suk Petchsong. She remains in good health, has a good memory, and can walk, but uses a cane to prevent falls. She also has no underlying health conditions. She shared the secret to her long life: she enjoys eating rice with chili paste and vegetables, but has recently developed a fondness for pork and cockles. She is also cheerful, singing Manora songs for the staff.
Later, the Kanchanadit District Chief led a group to visit Grandma Puang Kerdkrut, who is 103 years old. Grandma Puang still has a good memory and can cook for herself. She was also awarded the “Healthy Elderly Model” award in 2024 by the Krut Subdistrict Municipality.
Both Grandma Suk and Grandma Puang were born during the reign of King Rama VI and have lived through five reigns. The Kanchanadit District Chief has provided them with rice and other essential supplies and has coordinated with relevant agencies to provide assistance in various areas. In Kanchanadit District, there are 12 elderly people over 100 years old, and each of them lives with their children and grandchildren.
