Wan Nor Advises House to Refrain from Preparations for Prime Minister’s Audio Clip Verdict

Bangkok: Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives, has firmly stated that the House does not need to prepare for the impending ruling by the Constitutional Court concerning the Prime Minister’s audio clip case slated for August 29. He emphasized that the decision is a constitutional matter, and speculating on the verdict is unnecessary.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha addressed the lack of preparations by the House for the Constitutional Court’s decision involving the Prime Minister’s audio clip case. He clarified that the case is solely a matter for the court and the Prime Minister, and the House has not made any arrangements ahead of the date. Mr. Noor Matha expressed that the House will fulfill its duties based on the outcome after August 29, but emphasized that the responsibility does not lie with the House before the ruling.

In terms of the process following the August 29 ruling, Mr. Noor Matha outlined that the selection of a Prime Minister and government must adhere to constitutional procedures. He mentioned that although a joint parliamentary session was previously required, the finalization of Section 272 of the constitution allows for the House of Representatives to convene independently. He assured that Parliament is prepared to act according to the law, yet refrained from predicting whether the outcome will be favorable or not. Mr. Noor Matha concluded by asserting the importance of respecting the judiciary’s decision and refraining from criticism.
