Samut prakan: Police responded to the policy of “Phumtham”, setting a 3-month deadline to eradicate drugs, arresting a major drug dealer and seizing more than 60,000 methamphetamine pills in a rented room in the Bang Chalong area.

According to Thai News Agency, the Samut Prakan Provincial Narcotics Prevention and Suppression Center, under the direction of Mr. Suphamit Chinsri, Samut Prakan Governor, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwuttikul, Commander of Samut Prakan Provincial Police, assigned Pol. Lt. Col. Charoenchai Haythuk, Inspector of the Crime Suppression Division, along with special operations officers, to arrest a major drug suspect. The arrest followed a tip-off from an informant about the suspect selling methamphetamine to teenagers in the area and hiding the drugs in a second-floor rented room in Tambon Bang Chalong, Amphoe Bang Phli, Samut Prakan Province.

The search led to the discovery of Mr. Sakchai, also known as ‘Kae’, a 29-year-old who admitted ownership of the drugs. The evidence seized included three lumps of methamphetamine pills, with approximately 10,000 pills per lump, totaling 30,000 pills. Additionally, methamphetamine pills were packed in six bags, each containing 200 pills, amounting to a total of 1,200 pills, bringing the total to 31,200 methamphetamine pills. Other items seized included a pink plastic box used to hide drugs, a bank account book, and a Samsung mobile phone, model A14.

The officers charged Mr. Sakchai with ‘distributing Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, which is an act for commercial purposes and causes the spread among the public, affecting national security and the safety of the general public.’ Following the arrest, the suspect and evidence were taken to the Bang Phli Police Station for legal proceedings.
