Bangkok: “Anusorn” clarified that the first day of the parliament’s opening did not end in disarray, emphasizing that the chairman ordered the meeting’s closure and that the events were not surprising. The opposition had called for a quorum count indiscriminately, and he stressed the importance of government MPs being prepared to counter any opposition strategies.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, a party-list MP from the Pheu Thai Party, discussed the opening day of the 2025 ordinary session of the House of Representatives. He addressed the opposition’s proposal for a quorum count while Pheu Thai MPs suggested a roll call before the chairman’s decision to close the meeting. Mr. Anusorn emphasized that the House did not collapse, explaining the opposition’s consistent requests for quorum counts were anticipated. He suggested the opposition measures their success by whether they can cause a collapse, which they see as an achievement.
Mr. Anusorn further elaborated that the Pheu Thai MPs and government MPs called for a roll call to ensure transparency in showing which MPs were actively working versus those engaging in political tactics to destabilize the government. He highlighted that merely being present in the meeting room without participation equates to absence. He urged the use of the hashtag ‘My Taxes’ to question the accountability of MPs and expressed concern over the acceptance of outdated political practices.
Mr. Anusorn concluded by stating that all Pheu Thai Party MPs and government MPs are well aware of the situation and emphasized the need to enhance their work urgently to demonstrate the House of Representatives as a beacon of hope for the people. He affirmed that the House should remain a platform for collaborative problem-solving and expressed confidence that the public would discern the true nature of the opposition’s political maneuvers.
