Anutin Awaits Discussion with Three MPs Who Defied Bhumjaithai Resolution

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, is set to engage in talks with three Members of Parliament who recently voted against the party’s resolution concerning the casino law. These MPs sided with the Pheu Thai Party to withdraw the Entertainment Complex Bill from the House’s consideration. Anutin has urged restraint in labeling them as ‘cobras,’ emphasizing that MPs have the right to exercise their parliamentary privileges.

According to Thai News Agency, the three MPs in question are Chukan Kulwongsa from Nakhon Phanom, Prapa Hengpaiboon from Kalasin, and Onuma Boonsiri from Bueng Kan. Anutin mentioned the necessity of verifying attendance at the upcoming meeting where these issues will be discussed. He reiterated that the MPs are merely exercising their rights and that the facts will be sought if they attend the meeting.

In the scenario where the MPs do not attend the meeting, Anutin plans to inquire about their reasons. He cited Mr. Chukan’s explanation that his vote was motivated by the desire for the withdrawal of casinos. Anutin stressed the importance of respecting MPs’ dignity, stating that it would be inappropriate to scrutinize them excessively. With 69 MPs currently, and potentially 70 if they secure a win in Sisaket, Anutin expressed confidence in the integrity of Bhumjaithai’s MPs, asserting that betraying the party would equate to betraying the people.

Addressing rumors of attempts to lure more MPs, Anutin dismissed the need for concern, expressing confidence in the Bhumjaithai Party’s ability to maintain its distinct identity. When pressed about the number of MPs potentially involved in such attempts, Anutin humorously remarked that he had not heard any specifics and joked about personally investigating if he had.
