Bangkok: “Anutin” has disregarded criticisms from Pheu Thai core members regarding his speech during the Sisaket by-election campaign, labeling it as “old rhetoric.” He explained that his speech aimed to enlighten the public on the current situation, emphasizing the importance of livelihoods rather than involving other parties. He urged others not to meddle with the ongoing “leaked audio clip” issue, leaving it to the justice system to address.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed the ongoing campaign efforts for the Sisaket Constituency 5 by-election. He noted that Pheu Thai Party leaders had criticized his approach as outdated political rhetoric. Anutin stated that he had not yet reviewed which Pheu Thai Party leaders had spoken, hence he refrained from offering a clarification. He emphasized that his speech was not about rhetoric; instead, it was meant to help the public understand the Bhumjaithai Party’s perspective and build confidence in its candidates, without targeting any other parties.
Anutin further mentioned that he, along with the party’s core members, will continue to support Ms. Jintawan Traisaranakul, the Bhumjaithai Party’s candidate for the Sisaket by-election in Constituency 5. With only 20 days remaining until the by-election on August 10, they plan to intensify their efforts in the Khun Han District and Phusing District of Sisaket Province.
When questioned about the potential impact of the by-election on party popularity, particularly in the seven provinces bordering Thailand and Cambodia, following the leaked audio clip, Anutin expressed that their campaign efforts aimed to demonstrate their readiness to address and resolve local issues. He highlighted problems such as inadequate pricing for agricultural products like durian, which the government needs to address. Anutin believes that having another Bhumjaithai Party MP would help bring these issues to the forefront for resolution.
Addressing concerns about the leaked audio clip, Anutin stated that he did not engage in discussions with villagers regarding this matter. His focus remains on the villagers’ well-being, and he insisted that the audio clip issue should be left to the judicial process without interference.
