Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has raised concerns over the Khao Kradong land rights issue, emphasizing the need for all parties involved to adhere to legal procedures and avoid using power to harass each other, which he fears could hinder the country’s progress.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin addressed the ongoing revocation of land rights by the Land Department concerning Khao Kradong. He pointed out the absence of a map attached to the royal decree by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), which complicates the situation. Anutin stressed that all parties must rely on the law to ensure fairness, and occupants of Khao Kradong are demanding a clear and unanimous court ruling without objections from either side.
Regarding the Land Department’s ability to revoke land rights, Anutin explained that if the Supreme Court’s decision is binding in 35 cases, the revocation cannot proceed without adhering to the committee under Section 61. He clarified that he did not appoint this committee, suggesting the need for a systematic legal approach.
Responding to Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Phumtham Wechayachai’s announcement on August 2nd about immediate land rights revocation, Anutin stated that actions should align with legal directives. He emphasized that the public is aware of the situation, and it is crucial to follow legal processes, allowing everyone to fight for their rights, and comply with court rulings.
Anutin also reflected on the prolonged nature of the Khao Kradong issue, which he noted has persisted for over 20 years, extending into his tenure and beyond. He highlighted the necessity of following established procedures to resolve the matter.
Addressing concerns about political motivations behind the delays, Anutin urged against using politics for personal attacks. He emphasized the importance of focusing on national interests and performing duties without allowing personal issues to interfere.
Anutin concluded by expressing his desire for Thai politics to avoid being mired in personal vendettas, which could lead to ongoing hatred and revenge. He underscored his party’s commitment to governance without harassment or misuse of power, questioning how the country would progress if political conflicts continued to dominate.
