Anutin Charnvirakul Opens Up on 2026 Budget Vote Deliberations

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and a party-list Member of Parliament, has clarified his stance on the upcoming 2026 Budget Bill vote, stressing the importance of comprehensive examination and the need to heed the opinions of the House of Representatives.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin has ruled out any intention to vote in favor of the 2016 budget, underscoring that the Bhumjaithai Party’s involvement in the budget proposal requires them to exercise due diligence. The party, previously part of the coalition government, participated in the original proposal and now emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the people’s interests over opposing every issue.

During a meeting with the party’s executive committee, Anutin discussed not only the budget stance but also the nomination of candidates for the by-election in Chiang Rai Province’s Constituency 7. He highlighted the necessity for the party to carefully consider its position, given its previous role as a coalition partner in the first budget vote. Anutin also pointed out the need for the party to monitor the opposition’s stances as they now operate from an opposition position themselves.

When questioned about the potential for supporting the 2026 budget, Anutin emphasized the significance of listening to MPs’ opinions, as they are integral to budget considerations and committee participation. He remarked on the importance of adhering to the MPs’ perspectives, as during the first reading of the budget, Bhumjaithai was part of the ruling party. Anutin concluded by stating that any differences in opinion within the party should be resolved by aligning with the party’s resolutions.
