Anutin Clarifies Stance on Phumtham’s Interior Ministry Transfers

Bangkok: “Anutin” has stated that he does not interfere with “Phumtham” in transferring high-ranking civil servants in the Ministry of Interior, emphasizing that these decisions have already been announced. He expressed his support for these officials, trusting in their professionalism, and noted that during his tenure, he was aware of the political affiliations of various individuals but insisted on the autonomy of the Land Department in their operations, particularly concerning the Khao Kradong issue. He asserted that any interference must be thoroughly investigated.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, commented on the operations of the Ministry of Interior under the leadership of Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. When questioned about the potential impact on civil servant morale due to the transfer of many high-ranking officials, Anutin suggested that the officials themselves should be consulted. Having left his ministerial position, he stated that he can only offer support and expressed his belief in the capabilities and dedication of the Ministry’s permanent civil servants, highlighting their professionalism and non-partisan work ethic during his tenure.

Addressing the directive for the Director-General of the Land Department to clarify actions within seven days regarding the Khao Kradong land issue, Anutin clarified that this matter does not fall under ministerial jurisdiction. He pointed out that there is a definitive court ruling on Khao Kradong and that the Land Department, as the responsible authority, has adhered to this ruling at every stage. Decisions made by the department are within its purview, and there is no avenue for ministerial intervention. He concluded by stating that any orders perceived to be political should be scrutinized to determine the extent of ministerial influence.
