Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed the media following a meeting with the Prime Minister at the Thai Khu Fah Building. Despite spending over an hour in discussion, Anutin reiterated that there was no talk of a cabinet reshuffle. He mentioned feeling “relieved” after the meeting, although he did not elaborate on the context of his relief.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin arrived at the Bhumjaithai Party office to brief the media, who were eager to learn about the outcome of his meeting with the Prime Minister. Anutin clarified that the discussions were unrelated to any cabinet adjustments and focused solely on understanding the government’s stance and support for the 2026 budget. He emphasized the importance of the Bhumjaithai Party MPs’ understanding of these matters, given their involvement in the special committee considering the draft budget bill for fiscal year 2026.
Anutin was questioned about whether discussions with the Prime Minister included a potential cabinet reshuffle. He denied such talks, stating that the focus was on work-related issues, particularly the Prime Minister’s concern about the Interior Ministry’s commitment to the flagship policy on drugs. Assuring the Prime Minister, Anutin committed to reinforcing the implementation of the White Village policy among provincial governors.
The media persisted with questions regarding his tenure as Interior Minister, to which Anutin responded that the meeting did not include discussions about his position or a cabinet reshuffle. He likened the conversation to a routine update on official matters, challenges, and progress.
In a lighter moment, Anutin was asked about his gray hair, humorously mentioning his monthly hair dye routine and joking about his age. Despite persistent questioning, he maintained that there was no cabinet reshuffle on the horizon.
At one point, Anutin admitted feeling “relieved,” causing a flurry of questions from reporters. He laughed and did not specify whether the relief pertained to the absence of reshuffle discussions. When pressed further, Anutin mentioned his relief was due to having time to dye his hair, fearing the shop would close.
As the interview concluded, Anutin did not address questions regarding the number of MPs needed to assess the government’s status and stability, opting instead to leave the interview with a smile and a gesture.
