Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has declared that the Interior Ministry will focus on serving the people and ensuring justice for transferred civil servants. He criticized the previous administration for its extensive reshuffling within the ministry, which he claimed nearly obliterated its structure.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin addressed the media regarding a photograph of him dining on braised goose with Arsit Sampantharat, the Permanent Secretary of the Interior. He dismissed any speculation about the image, stating, “It’s just a photo of us eating. Do we really need to eat? After we’re done eating, we’ll go to work.”
In response to inquiries about the future operations of the Interior Ministry and potential continuity with past partnerships, Anutin emphasized that all efforts should prioritize the national interest.
Anutin challenged the efficacy of previous widespread transfers within various ministries, questioning their achievements and benefits to the public. He affirmed that his administration’s work would focus on the people, indicating that the primary concern is not about whether officials are transferred but rather their ability to perform their duties effectively. He noted that different approaches yield different outcomes.
When questioned about restoring justice for civil servants who were unfairly transferred, Anutin assured that those who had been denied justice would receive it. However, he avoided committing to reversing all transfers, responding to persistent questions with, “Don’t stuff anything into my mouth.”
