Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has issued a stern warning to the newly appointed Director-General of the Land Department, emphasizing the need for strict legal adherence in the ongoing Khao Kradong land dispute. Anutin highlighted past instances where indiscriminate decision-making in similar cases led to significant repercussions, including imprisonment.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin stressed the importance of legality in the revocation of the Khao Kradong land title deed, warning against actions that are indiscriminate, illegal, or carried out with malicious intent. He urged the new Director-General to learn from historical cases, where previous officials faced serious consequences for similar offenses. Anutin also noted the potential for legal action from those adversely affected by such decisions.
Addressing concerns about the impact of the Khao Kradong issue on political parties, Anutin expressed uncertainty, stating that inquiries should be directed to the affected parties. He reaffirmed his trust in Mr. Bhumtham’s commitment to maintaining the same standards as in the Alpine land case, urging for prompt action similar to the Khao Kradong scenario.
When questioned about the recent transfer of four directors-general following the Khao Kradong decision, Anutin clarified that the Director-General of the Land Department had requested the transfer, refusing to comply with orders. He also dismissed any connection between the transfer of the Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and the Blue Line project, attributing the transfer to longstanding associations rather than political motives.
Anutin addressed the potential demolition or delay of the Khao Kradong land project, emphasizing the legal nature of the matter. He reiterated his insistence on lawful procedures, regardless of political appointments, and urged transparency and accountability in actions taken by officials.
