Bangkok: The assistant abbot of Wat Prayurawongsawas Worawihan expressed sympathy for ‘Chao Khun Prasit,’ who recently decided to disrobe without providing any explanation. This development comes amid previous assertions from Chao Khun Prasit that he would seek justice regarding the case involving Ms. Golf.
According to Thai News Agency, Phra Khru Winai Thon Wichian, the assistant abbot, addressed the media concerning Chao Khun Prasit’s decision. He noted that although Chao Khun Prasit’s intentions were originally well-meaning, his methods were questionable. There is a concern that this situation could lead to a decline in adherence to Dharma and moral standards. Phra Khru Winai Thon Wichian remarked that external pressures, including those from influential figures and media, appeared to have predetermined the outcome, despite an ongoing investigation by the Sangha committee.
Chao Khun Prasit reportedly informed the abbot of his decision to disrobe in the afternoon. Initially, he intended to participate in the justice process to protect the temple’s reputation. However, it remains unclear whether he has officially disrobed.
Phra Khru Winai Thon Wichian also addressed the broader issue of monks being targeted by inappropriate messages, likening it to tactics used by call centers. He recounted personal experiences of receiving unsolicited messages from women on social media. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive solution to this problem and mentioned efforts to expand the investigation, starting from the case involving Ms. Golf.
