Bangkok: “Decha Isam” has refuted claims of harassment concerning the formation of a committee tasked with investigating the Director-General of the Land Department. The investigation centers on the Director-General’s decision not to revoke the title deed of Khao Kradong land, with assurances that the law will determine the correctness of actions to provide clarity to the public.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Decha Issara Khaothong, Deputy Minister of Interior, discussed the establishment of a committee to review the Director-General’s decision regarding the Khao Kradong land title deed. The timeline for the committee’s work will be determined at its first meeting, scheduled for this week.
The investigation will scrutinize the orders issued by the Land Department, focusing on why the Director-General’s decision seems to conflict with the judgments of the Administrative Court and the Supreme Court. Mr. Decha-isorn emphasized that his role as the committee’s central figure is not to harass anyone but to assist in clarifying the situation in accordance with the facts and laws. He stated that the Director-General, a subordinate of his, would be supported as long as his actions align with legal standards. If not, accountability will be enforced.
Regarding the Director-General’s compliance with the National Land Committee’s resolution, Mr. Decha Issara explained that the Land Department’s responsibilities include safeguarding government land and expediting the issuance of title deeds to the public. The committee’s purpose is to dispel any suspicions surrounding government actions. To ensure neutrality, the committee comprises experts, experienced lawyers, and representatives from the public prosecutor’s office, DSI, Land Department, and State Railway of Thailand, all selected after careful consideration.
When questioned about the duration needed to reach a conclusion, Mr. Decha-Isara expressed confidence that the process would be swift due to the availability of existing information, particularly factual data.
