GBC Talks in Malaysia Progress as Cambodia Urged to Ceasefire Permanently

Kuala lumpur: The CCSA revealed that Thailand is continuing discussions with Malaysia regarding the GBC, stating that Cambodia must ceasefire permanently. The CCSA is confident that the government will uphold the law, national interests, and Thai pride and will not allow any invasion.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, a member of the CCSA, revealed that the second day of the General Border Committee (GBC) Secretariat meeting, which began today at 9:00 a.m. Malaysian time, was a continuation of technical and security discussions with the Cambodian side to promote the implementation of the ceasefire agreement for sustainable and practical results.

This discussion aims to establish long-term stability in border management, particularly by halting actions that could lead to new conflicts, and by enhancing protection measures for the safety of residents in the area.

This morning, General Songwit Noonpakdee, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, attended a meeting via video conference to offer moral support to the Thai delegation and provide key guidance as the highest-ranking military leader. He emphasized the need to uphold Thai law, international law, national interests, and the dignity of Thailand in all operations.

“The Thai negotiating team has proceeded with prudence and thoroughness, using prudence as a tool to build peace for the greatest benefit of the people and the nation, under the principles of international rule of law. The government will continue to build sustainable and lasting peace through dialogue forums at all levels, while remaining committed to the spirit of peace. However, it will not tolerate any distortion of facts or actions that violate national security and dignity,” said Mr. Jirayu.
