Bangkok: The government has launched a large-scale financial assistance program aimed at supporting rice farmers across the nation, distributing 1,000 baht per rai to more than 2.48 million farmer households. This initiative represents a significant investment exceeding 20 billion baht.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is actively disbursing funds to farmers participating in the 2025 off-season and 2025/26 wet-season rice farmer assistance programs. Each eligible household will receive financial aid for up to 10 rai of land, calculated at the rate of 1,000 baht per rai.
As of September 1, a total of 6.28 billion baht had been allocated to 769,461 off-season rice farmers nationwide. The following day, September 2, saw 2.459 billion baht transferred to 286,000 farmers in the northern region. On September 3, an additional 10.586 billion baht reached farmers in the northeastern region, with 1.291 billion baht distributed. Further disbursements on September 4 included 1.254 billion baht to 137,000 farmers in other areas. Collectively, these efforts have resulted in a total transfer of 20.58 billion baht directly into farmers’ accounts, ensuring rapid and transparent access to the funds.
Ms. Sasikarn emphasized the government’s dedication to providing robust support for farmers and citizens across all sectors. She assured that every baht would be directly deposited into the accounts of the beneficiaries, reinforcing the transparency and reliability of the process, ultimately bolstering farmers’ security and confidence.
