Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that some areas in northern Thailand will continue to experience heavy rain. There is a 70% chance of thunderstorms across the North, Northeast, and East regions. The Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, can expect thunderstorms in 60% of the area.
According to Thai News Agency, the department forecasts that the heavy rain will persist over the next 24 hours. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert for potential flash floods, forest runoff, and mudslides, particularly in hillside areas near waterways and low-lying regions. Farmers are encouraged to enhance their drainage systems to mitigate damage to crops and livestock due to the prevailing moderate southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, coupled with a low-pressure cell over Hainan Island.
In the upper Andaman Sea, waves are moderate, reaching about 2 meters in height, while the lower Andaman Sea sees waves between 1 and 2 meters. Thunderstorm areas may experience waves exceeding 2 meters. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are urged to exercise caution and avoid storm-affected areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to remain ashore during this period.
