Heavy Rain Predicted in Southern Thailand While Northern Regions Face Minimal Precipitation

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert forecasting heavy rain in certain areas of southern Thailand. Residents in these regions are urged to exercise caution due to potential thunderstorms, while northern Thailand is expected to experience minimal rainfall, with Bangkok and its vicinity facing a 40% chance of thunderstorms.

According to Thai News Agency, the heavy rain in the southern areas is expected to persist over the next 24 hours as a result of easterly winds blowing over the Gulf of Thailand, Thailand, and the Andaman Sea. Residents in the south are advised to be cautious of potential thunderstorms, heavy rain, and accumulated precipitation, and to be vigilant when traveling through flooded regions during this period.

The forecast for the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand indicates that waves will reach approximately 1 meter in height, with areas experiencing thunderstorms seeing waves over 2 meters. Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and avoid areas prone to thunderstorms.

Tropical Storm Fengshen is currently located over the upper South China Sea and is expected to intensify. It is projected to move closer to southern Hainan Island, China, and the central coast of Vietnam between October 21-23. The storm is anticipated to rapidly weaken due to a cold air mass from China spreading across northern Vietnam and the upper South China Sea. It is not expected to move into Thailand.

For Bangkok and its surrounding areas, thunderstorms are predicted in 40% of the area. The minimum temperature is expected to range between 25-26 degrees Celsius, with a maximum temperature of 33-35 degrees Celsius.
