Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across several regions of Thailand, with particular emphasis on very heavy rain expected in Bangkok and its surrounding areas. The eastern provinces, including Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, and Trat, are also on high alert for potential flash floods and landslides.
According to Thai News Agency, a 24-hour weather forecast highlights the need for residents in the affected areas to be vigilant due to the risks posed by heavy to very heavy rain. The accumulated rainfall is likely to result in flooding and water retention, especially in urban areas like Bangkok. Additionally, the monsoon trough impacting the lower northern, central, and northeastern regions increases the risk of flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in areas near waterways and lowlands.
The seas are expected to be turbulent, with moderate waves reaching approximately 2 meters in the upper Andaman Sea. Thunderstorms could lead to even higher waves in these regions, while mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in stormy areas.
Furthermore, Tropical Storm “Tapah,” currently located in the upper South China Sea, is projected to make landfall in southern China by tomorrow. However, this storm is not expected to have a direct impact on Thailand’s weather conditions.
The weather forecast for Thailand predicts varying degrees of thunderstorms across different regions, with the northern and northeastern regions experiencing significant coverage. The central and eastern regions are expected to face heavy rainfall, while southern Thailand will see thunderstorms with varying intensities. Temperatures across these regions will range from a minimum of 23-26 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 31-36 degrees Celsius, with variable wind speeds.
In Bangkok and its vicinity, thunderstorms are expected to cover 80% of the area, accompanied by heavy to very heavy rain. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period of adverse weather.
